Design Justice Statement
Too long unjust and racist intent has maintained a grasp on the nation, and too many times it has led to abuse of power, fear, and death. We will not let this moment pass, and we will never be silenced. The unjust actions that led to the murder of a man of color is just one instance of a long line of racist acts by those in power. It has increased the flame of frustration that has been burning for so long, and it will not vanquish until everyone can breathe.
As members of CNOMAS we strive to elect officials that stand for equality and equitable representation of minorities in the design profession. This is no different than what should be done at the national scale. We must take action, and it starts with protesting and shedding light on the issue at hand. It continues with electing officials at the local, state, and national scales who advocate for our pursuit of justice and equality. We believe this continuation starts at the local level because we need to solve these issues in our community so we can be prepared to do it on a larger scale.
